Puck got way too frisky this morning. You should see him posture like a bull -he puts his head really low and growls, scrapes his front feet and bucks. Then Nugget gets really involved and starts wanting to wrestle, at which point I yell "outside!" and they run for the garage. Well, Puck has a rather low, er, center of gravity (okay, he's got a big belly...) and on their way out to the garage he took the corner too fast and barrelled into the fridge. You'd think that 95 lbs hitting
the fridge would be enough to win me a new fridge, but no, that damn fridge keeps persisting (you should hear my cheer when it starts making weird noises - is it going to break down? Please, please break-down! I need an excuse to spend the money on a nice stainless steel double door with freezer drawer). Somewhere in this deft manuever Puck must have hurt his foot, because not five minutes later I noticed a trail of blood leading from the garage through the kitchen and living to the hallway and spare bedroom.
Mike and I made a deal - he would clean the hardwood floors, I would get the area rug. As I sat and scrubbed blood off the rug, I watched in amazement as the DOW Jones opened up under 9,000 and then, within five minutes, fell to 7,300. At work, lots of people were talking about it. Now, admittedly, I'm not really into investments and the stock market, but even this is making me sit up and take notice. It's such a vicious circle - Americans don't want to spend money because the economy is bad and the economy is bad because Americans don't want to spend money (simply put, I know, but don't forget I don't know much about stocks!). And don't get me started on the economic stimulus checks - yes, I admit I loved having an extra $1,200 - but did Bush really think we were going to all go and spend it (most people I know were happy to pay off their credit cards or put it in savings). I don't think our economy is going anywhere but down until we get a new president. And that's another thing - you gotta love what a lame duck president we have right now. Bush is set to give a speech today and I could care less. I won't try and listen to it on the radio at work or find the transcript online, because he has nothing important to say.
Here's the favor I ask of you: even if you're not politically inclined, you still have plenty of time to get informed. Watch the debates. Surf the net. Get emotionally involved. Separate truth from fiction, scare tactics from diversion. Make an educated decision. Then, VOTE. Hopefully for who I really want to win (just kidding...kind of...)
