Tornado dodging

Last week I worked in Riverside County doing Rare plant surveys. We spent three days crawling, crouching, and squatting on the ground looking for this plant, which is only about 2 inches tall. For a full day afterwards, I couldn't help but see that plant everywhere I looked - in wallpaper, in gardens, in palm trees.

We began work on Monday, when it was around 98 degrees. Tuesday, it was down to the eighties, and by Wednesday, we had rain gear on because it had rained the night before. What crazy weather! When I got home, I heard that a tornado had touched down in that area not even 12 hours after we left. Well, that explains the weather...!
